Cookies and local storage are different
Cookies are small values that may be sent with web requests. Local storage holds values in your browser for a particular site and does not automatically attach them to requests. Both deserve clear explanations when used.
The site’s own scripts do not set cookies, run advertising trackers or load analytics. Hosting or delivery infrastructure may have separate technical behaviour; browser developer tools can show the storage used by a deployed site. This notice describes the functionality supplied with these pages.
What the optional setting stores
If you explicitly save reduced animation below, the browser stores the local-storage key safarizandumi-motion with the value reduce. It is used only to reduce motion when you return. It contains no identity, coordinates, fieldnote text or browsing profile and is not sent by this script to a server.
The value has no automatic expiry. It remains until you remove it here, clear site data, use a different browser profile or your browser deletes it. Private browsing and blocked storage may prevent persistence.
Display preference
Your device’s reduced-motion setting is respected even when nothing is saved here.
Removing the saved preference
Choose “Follow my device — remove saved setting” and apply it. This removes the motion key rather than replacing it with another stored value. You can also clear site storage through your browser’s privacy or site-data controls. Removing it does not delete files you downloaded or clear clipboard history.
What is not stored by the fieldnote tool
The fieldnote builder does not put your inputs into cookies or local storage. Preparing, copying and downloading are separate actions under your control. Your browser or operating system may retain form history, a restored page, clipboard items or files independently of this website.
